50th Class Reunion Postponed

Fellow 1970 Classmates,
The COVID situation in Michigan continues to limit and/or restrict holding events.  Our reunion venue, Michigan State University, has announced additional restrictions for events scheduled for this summer with the goal of keeping students safe.  This includes limiting the number of people allowed in event rooms and restricting guest movement in the facilities.  As a result, we would not be able to have the type of festivities that we planned.
After much thought and consultation with our event planners, the difficult decision has been made to postpone our reunion events to August of 2022.  We are working with MSU and all of the vendors to hold our event, as we planned, for the same weekend next summer.  Mark your calendars for AUGUST 12-13, 2022, to attend the grand events we have planned.
If you have already registered for the 2021 reunion, be assured that your registration will carry forward to the 2022 reunion.  You have two choices if you find that you won’t be able to attend the 2022 event.  First, you can consider the money already paid as a donation to your Class’s treasury for future events or donations to Sexton.  Second, you may request a refund.  If you choose to request a refund, contact us via the link on the website by May 1, 2021.
If you made a room reservation at the Kellogg Center for the reunion, good news!  Kellogg Center will move all 2021 reservations to the 2022 weekend and send out new reservations to guests.  It is your responsibility if your reservation needs to be canceled.  There are a limited number of rooms being held for the reunion.  You may make a reservation for the 2022 date by using the code 2208JWSEXT.
We know this is disappointing, particularly since this is our second postponement.  Just think – the Class of ’70 will be 70 at our 50th!  Class t-shirts and sweatshirts are available for purchase until midnight, March 31st.  Orders placed prior to that time will be processed and mailed to the purchasers.  Our Class of 1970 Online Store will return on the website in early 2022.
We believe this is the right action to take during these unprecedented times and we no longer have to wait and wonder what the situation will be this summer.  Don’t stop believing…this will happen!  Please stay on this roller coaster ride with us.
Best wishes for a healthy 2021,
1970 50th Reunion Planning Committee
